The Last Hurdle: Batch 6 Day Class Capstone Project 3

Photo by Caspar Rubin on Unsplash

The sixth iteration of the Tuitt Coding Bootcamp day class is now done creating their third capstone project.

It seems like it was an easy challenge to create three products in a row that will eventually be part of their web developer portfolio. But it was not. It was a lot of hard work (i.e., problem-solving, design, thinking, coding, research, trial-and-error, etc.) and time management.

“It’s supposed to be hard. If it were easy, everyone would do it.”

― Tom Hanks, “A League of Their Own”

The real challenging part of the this coding bootcamp is the test of the campers’ discipline and commitment. The discipline to invest a substantial amount of time codecrafting their projects every single day. The commitment that they will complete this bootcamp no matter what the odds are.

These campers who were able to do it were the ones who were committed and those who invested the time and effort to become a junior web developer after the twelve-week coding bootcamp.

Requirements and Specifications

The minimum requirements and specifications of the third capstone project were plain and simple: the campers need to create a web app product using the Laravel framework having two CRUD (Create, Retrieve, Update, and Delete) functionalities with exception to the built-in authentication feature of Laravel.

The campers needed to complete the minimum viable product of this capstone project for ten days and be ready to present it to the coding bootcamp mentors together with their web developer portfolio and two previous projects, all of which are fully deployed to the Internet using any available and free web hosting platform.

Afterwards, the coding bootcamp mentors reviewed the respective outputs of the campers if they did meet the required specifications. This process determined who among the campers will graduate and receive a certificate of completion.

A Look Into The Future | Batch 7 Day Class Capstone Project 3

“Is three months enough?” is one of the most common questions from aspiring Tuitt boot campers. In the complex and ever-evolving realm of coding, three months of consistent meticulous training is more than enough time to know the ins and outs of web development.

Don’t get me wrong — coding is not for everyone. It is made of theories built upon concepts built upon concepts, and a single program does not have enough room to explain it all. But seeing the progression of the skillset of the seventh batch of day class boot campers for Tuitt Coding Bootcamp showed how determination and passion can do wonders for one’s development. One look at their final Capstone projects and you will immediately see that the future definitely looks bright for this batch.

Minimum Requirements

To quantify the performance and skillset acquired by the campers throughout the whole process, the instructors created this baseline of their projects created.

Front-End Development

Half of the total rating of this project will come from the front-end side.

All of the technologies learnt by the campers crafting their capstone project 1 will be needed here such HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap (or other CSS frameworks), jQuery, fundamentals of web design, ideation and discovery.

Back-End Development

The other half of the total rating will come from the backend side.

It will require the campers to create their web applications using the Laravel framework – an amazing full-stack framework crafted for PHP web developers.

The CRUD (Create, Retrieve, Update, and Delete) functionality learned from the second capstone project should be implemented here as well, excluding the user authentication and authorization – these functionalities and several more can be made and customized efficiently using Laravel.

Most of the graduating night campers have a regular job and joined the bootcamp to either progress in their current work or to shift to a whole new industry. Six months of coming from their daily jobs to the bootcamp is no joke. Their passion and commitment to improve everyday is second to none. So, congratulations to our new batch of full-stack web developers and cheers to what’s about to come! Good job!
